Hastings
Public Interest Law Foundation (HPILF) is a non-profit
corporation run by currently enrolled University of California,
Hastings College of the Law students. The HPILF community
consists of Hastings student members, faculty, staff, alumni
and attorneys in the public interest field.
HPILF
is committed to educating public interest lawyers. As part
of HPILF s commitment to the Hastings community, we sponsor
lectures, panels, and workshops to inform and educate the Hastings
community about public interest law. HPILF works vigorously to strengthen
the Hastings loan forgiveness program, which assists students who
work in the public interest after graduating from Hastings. HPILF
also works with the Hastings Admissions Office to recruit students
with a background and interest in public service.
HPILF
is fostering the next generation of public interest lawyers.
Students design their own summer projects to serve the legal needs
of the underrepresented. These legal needs could not be met without
contributions from supporters like you. HPILF has awarded over 125
grants since 1980. We awarded 18 grants, ranging from $500 to $1500,
for work taking place during the summer of 2003.
Why
contribute? Your tax deductible contribution helps us fund
students who spend their summers working directly with underrepresented
communities on projects designed to increase access to the legal
system for all people. Part of the legal profession s code
of ethics includes a commitment to providing representation to all
members of society. Your assistance helps promote equal access,
justice and participation in the legal system. Click here to learn

HPILF
Gala Charity Auction. Our annual night of fun, food
and music will be held on February 2, 2006. Hastings students,
alumni, professors, staff and community members attend to
bid on generous donations provided by members of the community.
All money earned from the auction goes directly to Hasting
students working in the public interest. The 2005 auction
raised over $20,000.
